The actor shared who specifically taught him to cook the Ukrainian dish.
American actor Stanley Tucci, known for his roles in movies such as “The Hunger Games” and “The Devil Wears Prada”, demonstrated how he cooks borscht using his favorite recipe.
Yes, the 63-year-old star tested his skills in preparing the traditional Ukrainian dish and showcased the process on his photo blog. By the way, he noted that Ukrainians taught him how to cook borscht when he visited Moldova.
“I recently returned from Moldova. I was there with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to see many refugees from Ukraine. It was incredibly inspiring for me. One of the things I did there was cooking. Ukrainian women taught me how to cook borscht, which I adore. So, I’ll show you this recipe as a sign of respect for them,” the actor said.
To prepare the borscht, Tucci used several basic ingredients, including cabbage, carrots, onions, garlic, tomato paste, potatoes, and beets.

Ukrainian culinary reformer Yevhen Klopotenko, whose support led to borscht being recognized as UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage, also left his comment under the post of the famous actor. He thanked for this kind of support for Ukraine.
“Thank you for the support. The borscht is unparalleled,” wrote the well-known restaurateur in Ukraine.
However, the actor himself underestimated his culinary skills and captioned the video only as an “attempt.” In the comments, he sharply responded to some users who disputed the origin of the dish in Ukrainian territories.
Stanley refuted the false beliefs, reminding that borscht is a traditional Ukrainian dish that is “recognized as UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage.”
