The participants of the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland were presented with a fragment of the iconic play The Witch of Konotop by the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre, directed by Ivan Uryvsky.
This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
The play The Witch of Konotop won the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine in the category of theatre.
According to the theatre’s general director and artistic director Yevhen Nyshchuk, this production is “the voice of modern Ukraine, which is fighting the darkness for its existence”.
“This is a modern story about the strength of the Ukrainian spirit and its indomitably. The spirit that is full of the light of truth and sounds loudly today through the ages in a single desire to live, create, and win!” Nyshchuk said.
The first Global Peace Summit was held in Burgenstock, Switzerland, on 15-16 June, with 92 countries and 8 international organisations participating. All participants supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Following the Summit, a joint communiqué was signed, which may be joined by other states in the future.
